I know what you're thinking: White T-shirts are one of the easiest things to style. They legitimately go with everything. But the fact that they're "so easy" is the exact reason why finding fresh ways to wear them is so important. White tees often get lost in the mix alongside our shinier, more exciting tops; and oftentimes, we resort to them as placeholders, rather than standout pieces.
What we should be doing, though, is thinking of white tees as closet staples that can give an edgy outfit an anchor. They're a digestible basic that, with the right pieces, can look cooler than anything else you own. Why? Because they're simple, effortless, and help to ground your look when you're feeling frisky risky.
Ahead, you'll find four looks that don't just employ a white T-shirt, but need the white tee for survival. This is how to rock the one piece that everybody owns.

With Something Mesh
If you have a baggy white tee, throw a long-sleeved mesh shirt underneath to give that mesh some dimension. If you have a more fitted tee, like the one in this slideshow, a good way to play with texture is through outerwear. Keep the rest of the look simple and you're good to go.

With A Pair Of Jeans
There's almost nothing more classic than a white T-shirt and jeans. Seriously, wearing nearly any type of denim with nearly any basic tee tucked in results in a solid outfit. Since this look is such a staple, it's the perfect opportunity to get creative. Our suggestions: Opt for a pair of jeans that have an interesting silhouette or cool detail, like this two-tone option.

With A Slip Dress
It's no news that T-shirts play well layered underneath slip dresses. With a louder pattern, like this zodiac-printed version, the T-shirt is the shining star that lets you incorporate accessories you otherwise wouldn't without a solid-white component to ground your look.

With A Denim Skirt
If we look to one of the most classic outfit combos in history (a T-shirt and jeans) it's no wonder a denim skirt and a white top look like they were made for each other. This white-on-white situation looks best with a solid belt, some neutral-toned sneaks, and a sick pair of earrings, making for something that's on-trend and effortless.
Topshop Denim Midi Skirt, $95, available at Topshop; Zara Short Sleeved T-shirt, $15.90, available at Zara; Nike Air Huarache Premium, $120, available at Nike; Retrosuperfuture Drew Impero Sunglasses, $219, available at Farfetch; ASOS Leather Double Buckle Western Waist and Hip Belt, $33, available at ASOS.
